A Taste of Vietnam

A Taste of Vietnam

THIS MONTH WE HAVE ENOYED THE BEST OF VIETNAMESE FOOD …

Our son and his family have been staying with us prior to relocating to Hong Kong for a year. This has been a wonderful opportunity to enjoy quality time with our one year old grandson and also to experience the best of Vietnamese cooking. Our daughter-in-law comes from Vietnam and is a great cook so we have been treated to some lovely, flavoursome food.

A favourite with all the family is Pho, pronounced ‘fuh’ which is considered to be the national dish of Vietnam. This flavoursome, aromatic rice noodle broth is fresh, tasty, cheap to make and delicious to eat. Packed with fresh herbs and noodles it is a popular dish for breakfast in Vietnam as the spices are said to wake up the senses for the day ahead, it may take a while for this dish to replace the traditional eggs and bacon here but in the meantime it’s certainly a dish that can be enjoyed at any time of the day!
